District "D" Councilmember Jared C. Brossett is partnering with Adams and Reese Law Firm and Transportation Consultants (TCI) Inc. to send critical goods to the people of Houston so that they may begin recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey.
Adams and Reese LLP is a multidisciplinary law firm with attorneys and advisors located in New Orleans, Houston and throughout the southern United States. They are consistently recognized in the legal industry for their proven dedication to serving their surrounding communities. As the firm continues to assess the needs of its Houston-based staff and attorneys, they have joined forces with TCI to send urgent goods.
Critical supplies include the following: shoes, socks, bedding and pillows, diapers, baby formula, wheelchairs, pet food, insulin, stethoscopes, cell phone chargers, feminine hygiene products, power strips, clothing and toiletries.
"TCI and its employees are eager to help our neighbors in Houston as they begin to recover from the devastating flooding," said Jack C. Jensen, CEO of TCI. "It was just 12 short years ago, as a company operating in the Ninth Ward, that we experienced the compassion and support from across the country, and especially from Houstonians. We encourage all New Orleanians to find a way to give time, money or goods to the recovery, and we appreciate Councilmember Brossett for organizing this effort."
Goods can be dropped off to TCI, located at 4001 Alvar Street in District "D" (see PDF). There will be a drop point at this location Thursday, Aug. 31, through Saturday, Sept. 2, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., as well as Tuesday, Sept. 5. TCI will deliver all donations brought to the drop-off location Tuesday afternoon.
"Adams and Reese was fortunate enough to receive help during Hurricane Katrina and we offer our thoughts, prayers and wishes for all of those who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey," said Johnny Domiano, Partner in Charge of the New Orleans office. "As we continue to explore additional ways we can help those affected by this storm, we are hoping to lend immediate aid by joining our friends and client Transportation Consultants, Inc., as well as New Orleans Councilmember, Jared Brossett, to deliver critical goods to those who need it now. We will continue to help our neighbors and communities throughout this difficult time."
In lieu of donating items, cash donations will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1. These donations will be used to purchase goods listed above and included in the delivery. Those wishing to make a cash donation may drop off a check made payable to H.U.G.S. with an indication in the memo that the donation is for Houston Supply Drive.
"Here in New Orleans, we know all too well the heartbreak and devastation our neighbors in Houston are having to endure at this terrible time," said District "D" Councilmember Brossett. "They did not forsake us in our time of need and we will not forsake them. We will continue to stand with Houston, and all those impacted by Hurricane Harvey, as they work toward recovery and resilience."
