Elizabeth Lee Maron Named Among Mississippi Business Journal ‘Leaders in Law’

Adams and Reese Jackson office partner Elizabeth Lee Maron was recognized among the 2017 “Leaders In Law” by the Mississippi Business Journal on Thursday, Dec. 14, during the publication’s awards ceremony at the Old Capitol Inn.

The MBJ Leaders in Law award is presented annually to 40 individuals. In addition to being recognized at the awards banquet, Maron and the other 49 honorees will be featured in a special magazine with biographies and photos both in print and on-line. Requirements for Leaders in Law includes exemplifying the noble tradition of the legal profession, being successful while maintaining the utmost integrity, inspiring others with their skills and character as well as being passionate and aggressive on behalf of their clients and the community.

Maron joined Adams and Reese in 1996 and is a founding member of the Jackson office. Her practice focuses on education law, employment law, real estate transactions and general litigation. She is a frequent speaker on employment and education issues and provides training for clients on how to avoid harassment and discrimination claims, including sexual harassment and racial discrimination claims.

A leader in the education practice at the firm, Maron works with educational entities including school districts, community colleges and universities. She assists school districts in following state and federal laws and doing so professionally and with compassion, particularly with cases involving students and employees. She has been a school district hearing officer for school employee disciplinary hearings and has advised school districts on such matters as student discipline, employee/student free speech, contracts, Title IX compliance, policy development, public bidding issues and conducting investigations into employee complaints of harassment and discrimination.
