The law firm of Adams and Reese further expands its forestry/timber law practice with the addition of international transactions attorney C. Glenn Dunaway to the firm’s Atlanta office as special counsel. His practice focuses primarily in the field of timber and timberland transactions, with a concentration on complex finance structures and cross-border considerations.

Dunaway serves as an arranger and legal advisor on complex timberland transactions around the world, having participated in timberland transactions in the U.S., Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Estonia, Guatemala, Hungary, Latvia, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, South Africa and Uruguay. He has significant experience with tax planning and the formation of timberland investment funds.

Adams and Reese has an extensive forestry practice involving various aspects of the timber industry, representing stakeholders on a statewide, regional and national level. Dunaway’s international experience further broadens the scope of the firm’s practice.

The Atlanta office of Adams and Reese opened in April 2017 and, within the first three months of operation, grew to nine attorneys from the original founding partners: Ron C. Bingham, II, who leads the office and Matthew B. Norton. The office continues its growth in 2018 with the addition of Dunaway.

Dunaway provides structural tax advice on both domestic and international transactions, and has been involved in all phases of the capital formation process for large timberland transactions. Dunaway has developed an extensive network of global contacts in the timberland space that enables him to efficiently manage engagements throughout the major timberland investment jurisdictions.

Licensed to practice law since 1981 and with more than 30 years of transactional experience in the timberland space, Dunaway also has done substantial work in private equity, venture capital and commercial real estate investment, representing fund sponsors, institutional investors including pension funds and other tax-exempt investors, foreign governments and high net worth individuals.

Prior to joining Adams and Reese, Dunaway worked at a boutique law firm in Atlanta as a managing partner from 1995-2006. Most recently, he served as head of the Timberland Practice Group of another Atlanta-based law firm and he also previously served as a partner in the Tax Group in one of the world’s largest international law firms, focusing on cross-border investment transactions in private equity and commercial real estate.

Dunaway is AV® Peer Review rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America for Tax Law (by BL Rankings, LLC) each year since 2013. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Tax Section, has co-authored two chapters of The Definitive Guide To Investing In Timberland and has been a featured speaker at numerous timberland conferences in the United States and Latin America.

A double graduate of the University of Georgia, Dunaway completed his B.A. in Psychology in 1978 and earned his J.D. from the School of Law in 1981. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa as an undergraduate and was awarded membership in the Order of Coif upon graduating from law school.
