Mobile, Alabama
As the state’s only seaport, located on the Mobile River at the head of the Gulf Mexico’s Mobile Bay, Mobile serves as a major shipping and shipbuilding center. Mobile has benefited from a steady economic expansion with abundant natural resources, a prime location and a diverse culture. Shipping, medicine, research, retail, construction, aerospace and manufacturing are listed among Mobile’s major businesses.

As one of the Gulf Coast’s cultural centers with a concentration of historic architecture, Mobile is home to an array of cultural influences with its mixed French, Spanish, Creole and Catholic heritage, in addition to British and African Americans, distinguishing it from all other cities in the state of Alabama. The annual Carnival celebration is perhaps the best illustration of this. Mobile has the oldest Mardi Gras celebration, dating to the early 1700s of French colonial times. Carnival in Mobile has evolved over the course of 300 years from a sedate French Catholic tradition into a mainstream multi-week celebration across the spectrum of cultures. Mobile is home of several art museums, a professional opera, orchestra and ballet. The city is also known for having the oldest organized carnival in the United States, dating to the early 1700s.

Mobile has a unique history from artifacts detailing the city's earliest beginnings to modern day heroes and innovative museums. Mobile offers visiting a battleship from stem to stern or the opportunity to relive history aboard a World War II submarine. Enjoy nature at its finest and visit one of our unrivaled gardens. Blooming year round, these gardens are a part of our city everyone must see. Become one with the environment as you kayak on the Delta or cruise on a tall-ship through the Bay. Recapture the true spirit of Southern history on the veranda of an antebellum home or take the driving tour of one of our eight historic districts. Check out the latest scientific discoveries through hands-on exhibits or sit back and watch an IMAX movie. Greyhound races run nightly as well. Any time of the year, on any day of the week, Mobile Bay offers amazing adventures for everyone.

Mobile is a great place to do business, and to work and enjoy.
