Adams and Reese Partner and Pro Bono Paladin Mark Surprenant will deliver the 24th Annual Brendan Brown Lecture April 6th at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. Surprenant, a Loyola Law School alumnus, will give a talk entitled “Follow the Natural Law – Provide Access to Justice, Improve Someone Else’s Life (and Your Own).”

The prestigious Brendan Brown Lecture Series, an initiative of The Brendan Brown Natural Law Institute, is named in honor of the late Loyola professor Brendan Brown who studied and maintained a love of natural law and scholarly discourse. The Institute sponsors a major annual lecture, colloquia and other scholarly activities in honor of Brown.

At Adams and Reese, Surprenant is a Partner in the firm’s New Orleans office. He also serves as team leader of the Agricultural and Chemicals Team and as the firm’s Pro Bono Paladin. He served as president of the New Orleans Bar Association in 2013-2014, is currently the President of the Louisiana Judge and Lawyers Assistance Program, and also serves as a member of the newly formed Louisiana Access to Justice Commission.

Since the beginning of his career, Surprenant has been dedicated to community service, establishing the Adams and Reese HUGS (Hope, Understanding, Giving and Support) corporate philanthropy and employee volunteer program as well as the firm’s CA&RE (Caring Adams and Reese Employees) pro bono program. Surprenant also co-founded SOLACE, Inc. (Support of Lawyers/Legal Personnel All Concern Encouraged). The statewide volunteer organization assists those in the legal community who have experienced some significant, potentially life-changing event in their lives.
